My brother came to visit me when I lived at Haight and Divisadero. He was moving to Vegas, and he had his white ranger truth - which sported black doors that caused me to call my brother the white trash pohleece - loaded above the cab-top with his worldly belongings. He got lost in SF and ended up driving through the Castro.
When the queers saw him, they laughed and pointed, shouting, "Look! It's the Beverly Hillbillies!" and immediately making out to **** with him. It left a mark. He was quite shaken when he finally found my door.
Funny how when you're from The City you learn to take the **** that goes along with it in stride, but to the average Outsider it is culture shock once you get exposed to it's worst features.
And SF has always been relatively mild for a Big City too.
The solution for how to clean up SF has always stared us right in the face too.
